Part L of the Building Regulations is concerned with conservation of fuel and power through limiting heat gains and losses via building
fabric and the provision of energy efficient building services with effective controls. All new and existing buildings are required
to comply with their relevant section of Part L. Recent changes to the regulations mean that the main target for compliance is low carbon
emissions, leaving scope for flexibility in services and building envelope design.
The modelling software we use allows us to produce a Part L compliance checklist, incorporating an assessment of building fabric
and building services properties.
Communities and Local Government (CLG) regulations are pushing the industry towards a position
where parties from all disciplines are brought in at an early stage of a project in order to attain a more cohesive and holistic approach to design.
SAP Calculations
Parker Wilson have completed a number of the Government's Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) calculations for dwellings.
The SAP procedure measures a dwelling's building fabric performance and energy usage, accounting for renewable or low energy provisions.
This gives a SAP rating, on a scale of A to G, for the subject dwelling and a notional building of the same size. To comply with Part L
the design building should score at least the same A to G rating as the notional.
As well as carrying out the SAP assessment we have the expertise to advise you how to improve SAP performance and resolve compliance issues.
